Recently, there has been an increased effort among states to create Community Health Worker (CHW) certification programs. Currently in 2015, two states, Florida (HB 285/SB 482) and North Dakota (SB 2321), are considering CHW certification bills. In 2014, three states, Illinois (HB 5412), Maryland (HB 856/SB 592) and New Mexico (SB 58), enacted legislation establishing a CHW certification program.
