Posted on: 01 February 2023 By: Tami H Wyatt

I am a nurse researcher who is seeking school district collaborators to help examine a mobile health application specifially designed for children with asthma (ages 7-13 years) and children of families who need resources and support to help manage their child's asthma. The school districts role is to allow school nurses to identify children with asthma and then the school nurse uses the app IF SHE WISHES.

Hello, Must wondering if anyone else is using telehealth modalities for seeing patients as well as coaching patients. Also, anyone know of your medical school or nursing/NP/PA programs integrating telemedicine into their curriculums?

Post Fire Clean-up Procedures for Asthmatics

Posted on: 13 November 2018 By: Laura Capps

Our local hospital is looking for any specific advice on post-fire clean-up for asthmatic family members.

I've received great advice from NCHH including hiring a RIA/IICRC certified professional cleaning company, focusing on water clean-up and dehumidification, smoke and soot clean-up under negative pressure, and NYDOH resources.

Anyone have anything to add that is asthma-specific?  e.g. certain chemicals to recommend/avoid as part of the clean-up effort?

Thanks!

CHW scope of practice limitations with asthma education

Posted on: 09 June 2016 By: tracihardin

I recently had a question from a fellow asthma educator in NY concerning the scope of practice limitations for CHWs in regard to instruction on asthma medication device usage in her state.   She stated that instruction on medication device usage is limited to licensed professionals in NY.  This would include instruction on how to use a spacer with an MDI.  In New York, this can only be done by a licensed RN, RT, PA, NP, MD, pharmacist, etc.

Individualized trigger assessment?

Posted on: 25 May 2016 By: BrettSchultz

Are the CHWs give individualized information regarding triggers for the patients? We are recommending SPT or Specific IgE blood testing in the development of pathways. Has anyone else incorporated such a measure?
