Asthma Interventions
Thursday, September 10, 2015
Los Angeles, California
The California Forum on Sustainable In-Home Asthma Management (the Forum) was the sixth in a series of local meetings supported by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in collaboration with the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
The Forum was designed to meet the following desired outcomes:
- Build awareness about the health benefits and cost-effectiveness of in-home education, environmental assessments, and interventions, especially for children with poorly controlled asthma.
- Identify the range of options available for in-home asthma care services within California, starting with South Los Angeles.
- Increase awareness and understanding of stakeholders critical to secure sustainable financing in California.
- Develop strategies to leverage the evidence and business cases necessary to secure sustainable financing within California.
- Obtain commitment from stakeholders to form and/or join working group(s) ready to take action at the local and state levels.
The Forum was coordinated locally by Esperanza Community Housing and HUD's Office of Lead Hazard Control and Healthy Homes Region 9, along with support from a diverse group of federal, state, and local agencies working to further healthy housing in California (see Appendix B for a list of planning committee members).
