The program offers asthma education and training for patients, shelter staff and clinical providers. The goal of the program in to ensure these patients are provided with current asthma management regimens to control their asthma and improve their quality of life. These strategies are based on the 2007 NHLBI guidelines. The program has been successful in classification of asthma severity and providing persistent asthmatics with controller medication regimens.
