In 2013, North East Independent School District (Asthma Awareness Education Program) was awarded the US EPA’s National Environmental Leadership Award in Asthma Management (NELA). This award is the nation’s highest honor for community-based asthma programs, health plans, and health care providers that help people bring their asthma under control.
We were honored that our work in asthma management was recognized, and since receiving the NELA, our program has continued delivering quality asthma care. We hope that we have served as an example of success. Now, we are encouraging you and your program to apply for this award! The 2016 application period is now OPEN!
Apply for this award and gain national recognition for your program’s efforts, participate in a national webinar hosted by EPA to share your best practices, and serve as a role model for other programs. We can tell you from experience that the application process in and of itself is a learning experience, so if the thought of applying is on your mind, we strongly encourage that you take the time to do so!

We at North East Independent School District look forward to hearing about the 2016 winners later this year!
