Child care programs can now complete ten steps to qualify for the PACNJ Asthma Friendly Child Care Program Award. The program and materials are free!

EACH STEP INCLUDES:

-Asthma education for teachers and staff

-Information for child care directors to guide their staff

-Information for parents

WHAT IS AN ASTHMA FRIENDLY PROGRAM?

-Teachers, parents and health care providers work together to help children control their asthma

-Teachers know what things can make asthma worse, called triggers, and they take action to get rid of
those things in their classroom

-Each child with asthma has a written Asthma Treatment Plan at the center that explains what medicine
the child needs to stay healthy and what to do when the child's asthma is getting worse
