Fight Asthma Milwaukee Allies aims to improve the quality of life of children with asthma and their families; to reduce hospitalizations, emergency visits, childcare and school absences due to asthma; and to eliminate disparities in childhood asthma outcomes in the City of Milwaukee. Our activities include family and community education, parent and neighborhood organizing, environmental policy and advocacy, case management and care coordination, clinical quality improvement, and surveillance and evaluation. Our efforts have been associated with reduced hospitalizations and related costs, reduced asthma symptoms, increased preventive medication use, improved knowledge and confidence by caregivers, asthma friendlier school practices, better asthma severity classification and increased use of spirometry by clinicians.
