With grant funding from the NHLBI, we develop and evaluate computer-based, multimedia interventions to improve asthma self-management skills for adults and children who have asthma. These behaviorally based programs emphasize improving compliance with health care provider regimens by increasing the user''s knowledge regarding asthma and proper use of medications, motivation and self-efficacy to use prevention methods effectively, and communication skills for talking with their health care provider about their asthma management needs and concerns.
