What about certified asthma educators?  Are these in use?  Any reimbursement ideas?

Hi there! While there are several certified AE programs out there, this is not necessarily the training model that we promote.  The AE certification process can be cumbersome, costly, and difficult to access so it can significantly limit recruitment and good community representation.  One of the strengths of having a community-based health worker is their ability to act as peer educators.  While the training can provide good background, we do not require this as we hire and train.  I believe certified AEs may be more frequently used in settings like hospital based respiratory therapy., etc.  In our case, if we were to pursue AE training, cost would be paid through grants or donors.
