Asthma-Safe Homes Program providers have experienced some resistance from landlords (simliar to other environmental programs such as lead) about allowing home assessments and repairs and we have made some program adjustments to increase communication with landlords to support their participation.

We recently implemented a new procedure to support client communication with their landlords to highlight the benefits to the tenant and the property owner and make it clear that the Part B providers who conduct the assessment and repair services do not report to the housing authority/code enforcement. We will evaluate the results of this effort on landlord engagement in the coming months.
