Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago (RHAMC) has been a local public health leader since 1906. Today, the association addresses asthma, COPD, lung cancer, tobacco control and air quality with a comprehensive approach involving research, education and advocacy activities. RHAMC is widely recognized as a leader in addressing asthma in our communities. Recognizing the severity of the asthma epidemic, RHAMC provides several programs and initiatives to educate people with asthma and those who care for them.

North East Independent School District's Asthma Awareness Education Program will address the needs of students and staff by creating a healthy environment and by providing technical and educational resources for the students and staff on environmental air quality and asthma management. Our commitment to classroom indoor air quality and asthma management results in higher student/staff productivity and attendance which benefit the district with increased state funding, lower healthcare costs, and increased student performance. Healthier children learn better.

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools - Asthma Education Program

The Asthma Education Program is a collaborative initiative between Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools and the Mecklenburg County Health Department, and is a funded by a collaborative agreement with Centers For Disease Control and Prevention/Division of Adolescent and School Health (CDC/DASH).The goals are to create a safe, supportive learning environment; increase student participation in academic and school activities; improve attendance; and build lifelong self-management skills for children with asthma.

Food Allergies in Childcare Centers

The Center for Managing Chronic Disease is investigating a uniform approach for prevention, recognition, and intervention of food related reactions. With the collaboration of the Center, Harvey L. Leo, MD is leading an intervention at eight local University of Michigan Daycare centers. These facilities are incorporating a systematic approach to educate parents, children, and staff of food allergies in hopes of improving parental and staff anxiety regarding food allergies and reduce the possibility of food reactions.

University of South Alabama Breathmobile

The USA Breathmobile is a mobile asthma clinic that visits Mobile County Public Schools. The USA Breathmbile is a fully-equipped RV staffed with a Pediatrician, PA, asthma educator and a medical assistant who function under the direction of Drs. Loran Clement and Druhan Howell. Services include comprehensive physicals, spirometry, allergy testing, and asthma education.
