The Respira Sano Program is a PCORI (Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute) funded asthma comparative effectiveness research project that aims to improve asthma control among Latino children ages six to seventeen in Imperial County, California. Working in partnership with academic/research institute (San Diego State University and the Institute for Behavioral and Community Health) with over 30 years of experience conducting rigorous public health research, a community clinic (Clínicas de Salud del Pueblo, Inc.) with excellent reach and credibility in the partner community, a community-based organization (Comité Cívico del Valle) with extensive experience in promoting asthma control, and a division of the state health department (California Breathing) responsible for asthma control efforts statewide.

We are now Kids First of So Cal in Burbank, in West Hills and stretch across Greater LA and the Inland Valley to San Bernardino and up to Santa Barbara depending on our programs. We are integrating health literacy with active lifestyles, biology and science inquiry in citizen science with core studies,the arts, and academic gains using blended instruction and partnerships.

Camp Not-A-Wheeze is a unique recreational and educational program that helps children ages 7-14 with moderate to severe asthma, learn effective asthma management skills so they can lead active lives while successfully managing their chronic illness. Asthma education is integrated with recreational camp activities, empowering children to understand and avoid their asthma triggers, recognize warning signals of an oncoming episode, properly use their medications, and exercise control over their disease.

Community Allies Against Asthma Navigator Program (CAAAN)

CAAAN program will partner with AmeriHealth Caritas PA to use an evidence based, home-based and multi-trigger intervention model to target families with children who are experiencing difficulties managing their asthma. CAAAN is designed to provide tailored asthma self-management education and support services to participants through a tiered structure that is based on severity of members' asthma control challenges.
