The 2005 report, Ethnic Disparities in the Burden and Treatment of Asthma, co-authored by the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America (AAFA) and the National Pharmaceutical Council (NPC), finds that the burden of asthma falls disproportionately on the black and Hispanic—largely Puerto Rican—populations in the U.S., and especially on minority children. These groups have disproportionately high rates of poor asthma outcomes, including hospitalizations and deaths.

This card includes necessary information you need to care for the young child with asthma or allergies. The card includes a medication plan, a list of the child’s specific signs and symptoms, and steps on how to handle asthma and allergy emergency situations. Reviewed by the Environmental Protection Agency, the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program and the Food Allergy and Anaphylaxis Network.

Allied health professionals earn continuing education credits by taking this course which is structured around NAEPP’s “Four Components of Asthma Management” and contains 12 modules of self-paced study. Completing the course will expand your knowledge of these four components which include: information on assessment and monitoring, control of environmental factors, pharmacologic management, and patient education. Course content conforms with the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) 2007 Expert Panel Report 3: Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma.
