Asthma Control Level Question

How did you determine Asthma Control Level - was that by ACT?

Daytime and nighttime symptoms, activity limitations, are all indicators of control on the ACT test. Data are collected and analyzed on the forms collected pre and post.

we are working with a large number of community health centers to adapt the EMR to include the ACT to assess asthma control.  Outcomes to follow on this website!

In MA, we used Jim Krieger's four questions on asthma control.  In summary, they ask about nighttime awakenings, asthma symptom days, activity limitations, and rescue medication use.  We then use the EPR-3 guidelines to categorize control.

Jean--we will keep you posted on the outcomes of our EPA partnership through our cooperative agreement to add NHLBI and ACT info into EMR for over 30 health centers---the pilot started in the fall.
