Was it difficult to retain public housing CHW's? How did you deal with any issues that might have come up for them? For example, we have found that many of our residents are dealing with trauma and other social issues and sometimes are unable to consistently stay in our training programs.

CHA has employment specialists who work with residents, preparing them for their fields of interest and identifying those qualified when we learn of openings -- so it helps with retention in pre screening. And there is post-placement support for the family through CHA, but one could potentially seek that through a social service agency partner as well.

Sinai has learned that CHWs often share "social" circumstance as the participants/ communtiy members. This is where CHW supervision and mentoring come into play. It really is key!
