The CHWs receive 40 hours of structured training from health department staff, and then their is ongoing training through case confrences and protocol review meetings every month. The project nurse reviews the initial assessment for each household with the CHW. The nurse or project manager observes 1-2 visits per month for each CHW using a structured assessmetn tool. The nurse reviews a random sample of CHW visit encounter notes each month and assesses quality of documentation and adherence to protocols.
