The Baltimore City Childhood Asthma Program performs in-home environmental assessments in order to decrease the burden of asthma on high risk children.
This is a childhood asthma program. The goal is to decrease the burden of asthma on very high-risk children. Eligibility for services are as follows: age range from 0-6 years, resident of Baltimore City, diagnosis of asthma by a physician. This is a home-based program. Program staff visit homes for an environmental assessment aimed at the reduction of asthma triggers. The program provides bed and pillow covers, humidifiers, etc. Staff also teach residents about practices that reduce asthma triggers, (e.g., information about the harmful effects of smoking, etc).
