National Tribal Healthy Homes Assessment, Training & Technical Assistance Support Center: Materials

In an effort to increase family and community wellness among our nation's tribes, MSU Extension Housing & Environmental Health Program and the Native American Housing Technical Assistance Institute proposed the creation of a National Tribal Healthy Homes Training & Technical Assistance Support Center which will integrate all elements of the existing National Center for Healthy Housing and the USDA/HUD Healthy Homes Partnership program.

Healthy Home Heritage Coloring, Activity & Sticker Book

  • Join the beaver kits, Aspen and Birch, as they visit their grandbeaver's lodge and help them assess it for health hazards. While looking over the home, they learn the importance of a home's environment on the health of its occupants as well as learn about the unique American Indian heritage of honoring one's home and environment. Help Yourself to a Healthy Home 

  • This 58-page booklet describes many of the hidden dangers to the health of home occupants, both children and adults. The booklet includes sections on: indoor air quality, drinking water, home safety, asthma & allergies, mold & moisture, carbon monoxide, lead, hazardous household products, and pesticides. In addition, the Native American edition of the booklet features descriptions, drawings and photos of the nine traditional Native home types found in the United States.

Georgia Governor Deal signed into law State Bill 126 which authorizes schools to stock levalbuterol/albuterol

Governor Deal signed into law State Bill 126 (SB126) which authorizes schools to stock levalbuterol/albuterol and provides immunity for trained staff to administer the lifesaving medication to a student believed in good faith be experiencing respiratory distress, regardless of whether the student has a prescription for albuterol/levalbuterol. This authorization and protections under the law will enhance the ability of school nurses and properly trained personnel to implement comprehensive protocols for responding to asthma emergencies while protecting all students experiencing respiratory distress in school settings. Announcement of the new law was covered by local CBS news affiliate featuring Jon Ramsey and Dr. Traci Bridges who authored the bill.
