The purpose of this guide is to support school-based health center staff in leading or supporting evidence-based strategies and promising practices to reduce exposure to environmental asthma triggers.

Strategies for Addressing Asthma in Schools provides a compilation of information and resources for implementing programs in schools. It was designed for staff in state health departments as they manage their asthma programs, but other individuals and groups with an interest in “asthma friendly schools” may also find it useful.

Through an interactive online course, school health staff and other designated school personnel can learn how to assess a child’s readiness to carry and use a quick-relief inhaler.

The California School Environmental Health and Asthma Collaborative (SEHAC) is comprised of government, education and non-profit organizations assembled to increase the K–12 school community's awareness of the importance of addressing indoor air quality and asthma issues.
