Through a comprehensive evaluation and management plan, the Children's Hospital Asthma and Allergy Center helps children with asthma to avoid urgent care visits and hospitalizations.

Through a comprensive evaluation and managment plan, urgent care and hospitalizations are avoided. Education to future and current primary care phyisians in our area and at national and international meetings are ongoing.

The North Carolina Asthma Program strives to reduce the burden of asthma in North Carolina through surveillance, the development and implementation of an effective, inclusive State Asthma plan, public education and awareness-raising, and leadership.

The North Carolina Asthma Program completed the Burden of Asthma Report in 2006 and the North Carolina State Asthma Plan in 2007. The North Carolina Asthma Program strives to reduce the burden of asthma upon the citizens of our state by:
-Developing and maintaining a comprehensive statewide asthma surveillance system.
-Developing and implementing a State Asthma Plan that effectively addresses asthma in all ages, ethnic groups, backgrounds, and in multiple settings.
-Increasing public awareness of the importance of reducing the burden of asthma and the need for supportive policies and environments.
-Providing technical assistance and resources to help support local asthma coalitions.
-Providing leadership and administration for the statewide asthma coalition, the Asthma Alliance of North Carolina (AANC).

The Central Ohio Asthma Coalition, the main coordinating agency for organizations and individuals in Columbus who are concerned about the alarming asthma epidemic, provides a neutral forum for asthma information exchange and collaboration on asthma projects to improve the quality of life of individuals affected by asthma.

The Central Ohio Asthma Coalition is consists of over 20 member organizations. Created in 2004, the Coalition is Columbus’s central coordinating agency for organizations and individuals concerned about the alarming asthma epidemic. The COAC provides a neutral forum for asthma information exchange and collaboration on asthma projects. Membership is open to all organizations and individuals.

Our vision is to significantly reduce the burden of asthma in the Central Ohio.

The mission of the Central Ohio Asthma Coalition is to improve the health and quality of life of individuals affected by asthma with particular emphasis on low-income populations.

The goals of the Central Ohio Asthma Coalition are to improve the quality of life of individuals affected by asthma:

Increase awareness about the seriousness of the asthma epidemic
Provide a central forum for asthma information exchange
Encourage collaborative asthma related projects
Promote the appropriate diagnosis and management of asthma
Advocate for improved asthma related health policies
