The California Department of Public Health (CDPH) has established a blueprint for taking action against asthma in California through the Strategic Plan for Asthma in California 2008-2012. The Plan is a roadmap developed collaboratively by government agencies, asthma experts, community groups, and others to improve asthma prevention, treatment, policy, data, and public education. Starting with its publication in 2002, strategies outlined in the Plan have been implemented by both State and local programs in an effort to reduce the burden of asthma in California. With the input from stakeholders throughout the state, the Plan was revised in 2007 for the next five years of implementation.
