CCI welcomes adults and children in need of primary health care and WIC nutrition education and food supplement services, provided in six accessible locations. Puerto Rico Coalition for Asthma & Other Chronic Respiratory Conditions

The Puerto Rico Coalition for Asthma and other chronic respiratory conditions is a non-profit organization founded in 1991 to educate, empowered and protect patients with respiratory conditions. It has worked with other groups to create a law to protect the right for students with asthma to use their medications in school, by developing a protocol. Also, it has worked with the PR Lung Association in patient education matters and activities. The Coalition delivers CME programs for health professionals as well as education to community-based groups in areas of low income and disparities for kids.

Asthma Management and Education Online

This FREE online course recognizes the critical role allied health professionals play in educating and caring for patients with asthma. Course content conforms with the National Asthma Education and Prevention Program (NAEPP) 2007 Expert Panel Report 3: Guidelines for the Diagnosis and Management of Asthma. This program has been approved for 7 CE credits by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation (ANCC) and 7 CRCE hours by the American Association for Respiratory Care (AARC).

Green and Healthy Homes Initiative - Buffalo

Based on models from around the country, Buffalo’s Green and Healthy Homes Initiative aligns and coordinates public and private funding sources and programs for weatherization, lead hazard control, asthma control, and other home health and safety interventions in low income homes. Homes with vulnerable populations such as children and seniors will be given priority. Under the green and healthy model, comprehensive whole-house solutions replace a piecemeal approach that has been based more on government silos than on the needs of children and families.
