Asthma Care Plan/Action Plan

It’s hard to see your child sick. The good news is that you can help your child gain control over asthma. That
means fewer days out of school and fewer attacks that can be scary for you and your child. Along with the doctor, you have an important role in helping your child control asthma. This brochure offers tips on how to manage asthma and follow simple steps to minimize exposure to asthma triggers found indoors and out.

The FlowBrush™ is a combination toothbrush and electronic spirometer. It allows people with moderate to severe, persistent asthma to measure their lung function (FEV1) each morning just after brushing their teeth. This FEV1 data is wirelessly transmitted via the Verizon national network to the FlowBrush database cloud for daily analysis.

When tracked daily, FEV1 readings can predict asthma attacks before they occur. If you or your child's FEV1 readings begin to drop, our trained asthma care coordinators will call and help you implement your asthma action plan or access medical care from nearby urgent care clinics or retail clinics.

The purpose of the FlowBrush Asthma Surveillance Telemendicine or FAST program is to help asthmatics initiate preventive care BEFORE symptoms become noticeable and expensive, emergency room or hospital care is required.

This webinar will highlight one of the modules included in CEHN's revised training resource titled "Training Manual on Pediatric Environmental Health: Putting It Into Practice".

The presentations will provide participants with an overview of the Environmental Management of Pediatric Asthma: Guidelines for Health Care Providers. They will include an outline of relevant competencies in environmental health and discuss the importance of interventions to control environmental hazards in children's homes and other primary settings as part of a complete pediatric asthma management plan. Information on helpful resources will also be provided.
