The objective of the program is to promote children's adherence to asthma self-management, in particular peak flow monitoring for symptom management to improve health outcomes and asthma quality of life.
The UMCH Breathmobile is a mobile clinic that provides free state-of-the-art preventive asthma care to underserved children who otherwise would not have access to effective specialty based asthma care. The Breathmobile provides care right outside neighborhood schools. The children receive national asthma guideline based care including asthma and allergy focused history and physical, lung function testing, allergy testing to identify potential allergen triggers, provision of medications, action plans and extensive education about how to keep asthma under control.
We also assist with managing a community based after school program in Baltimore city for qualified underserved children.
