Respiratory Health Association of Metropolitan Chicago (RHAMC) has been a local public health leader since 1906. Today, the association addresses asthma, COPD, lung cancer, tobacco control and air quality with a comprehensive approach involving research, education and advocacy activities. RHAMC is widely recognized as a leader in addressing asthma in our communities. Recognizing the severity of the asthma epidemic, RHAMC provides several programs and initiatives to educate people with asthma and those who care for them.
Through games, music and creative play, children learn how to take an active role in their care. The goal is to learn how to manage, prevent and control asthma symptoms. Offered to children ages 4-10 and their families for hands-on learning through a puppet show geared towards children. ASTHMA 101 will teach you and your family basics about asthma, respiratory anatomy, peak flow meters, triggers, medications, management and more! This class is recommended for adults with asthma and for parents of asthmatic children. This is a FREE class, and dinner is included! The Brenda Pillors Asthma Education Program is a non-profit university-based asthma education program serving Brooklyn, New York. Long Island University’s School of Health Professions administers the program in conjunction with health professionals from outside the University.
