The Pediatric Asthma Program at NYC Health + Hospitals/ Kings County provides inpatient and outpatient asthma services to over 1900 children per year ages 0 to 21 years through a multi-faceted approach by teaching patients and families about the disease itself, asthma triggers, proper medication regimens, and environmental control. Patients and families play a central role in asthma care and are guided through the principles of asthma self-management by our core team which consists of a pediatric pulmonologist, pediatric allergist, pediatric asthma nurse practitioner, and asthma educator.
The EHACE was established as a pilot program to address the disproportionate prevalence of asthma among children in East Harlem through asthma case management, education and training, and environmental intervention services.
